With the new season just around the corner, Memphis Depay is now facing a few important weeks ahead as he looks to make a definitive decision on his future.

The attacker has been informed of his diminishing role in the team, with Barcelona reportedly keen on sanctioning his sale before the start of the season.

According to the latest report from Mundo Deportivo, it appears Depay himself is now hoping to accelerate his transfer away from Camp Nou, as he is aware of his dwindling prospects at the club.

The Dutchman has no shortage of alternatives either, with Juventus among the clubs interested in his services. The Italian giants are keen on attaining the services of the former Manchester United starlet, after losing Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.

With Depay’s contract expiring in 2023, Barcelona are looking for a fee of around €20 million for the services of the attacker.

The Catalans had considered extending the player’s deal until 2024, in order to give Juventus the opportunity to sign him on a loan deal, with a mandatory purchase option worth €20 million. But in case of a direct transfer, Barça are still holding out for the same amount.

Depay is aware of the opportunity from Juventus, but he also has other suitors including Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. Even his former clubs Olympique Lyon and Manchester United are said to be interested in re-signing the attacker.

However, the report suggests Juventus are in a pole position to sign the Barcelona star, as he looks to put an end to his brief and unfortunate spell in Catalonia.

While the Bianconeri might not be too keen on meeting Barça’s €20 million price tag, the Catalans could still welcome Depay’s exit as they look to make up space for the new signings.
