In a major update, Luis F Rojo of MARCA is reporting that PSG have identified Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound superstar Kylian Mbappe.

To that end, the French champions are ready to stump up a mammoth €200 million for the 16-year-old sensation in the summer transfer window.

However, Barcelona, despite their economic problems, have decided to decline the proposal as they do not wish to offload their academy crown jewel.

PSG want Yamal to replace Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to pull out all the stops to ensure that Mbappe’s departure does not hamper their sporting ambitions for the future.

As such, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already set to work to find a player who can bring hope back to the after seeing Lionel Messi, Neymar, and now Mbappe leave in just two years.

PSG have chosen Lamine Yamal as his replacement and would be willing to pay €200 million for the teenager, an astronomical figure for a 16-year-old.

It would be the second-biggest transfer in the history of football. The first, curiously, was also between these two clubs when PSG paid Neymar’s termination clause of €222 million.

Earlier this week, superagent Jorge Mendes, who represents Yamal, met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta to convey PSG’s interest and informal offer for the youngster.

The Barça board were already aware of PSG’s interest and learned from Mendes the extent to which the Parisians were willing to go to sign the teenage sensation.

However, the answer to PSG’s offer is that Lamine Yamal will not be sold. At Can Barça they say that he is the greatest asset that La Masia has produced after Messi.

And he is proving it this season, one only needs to look at Friday’s game against Mallorca, which he won with a superb goal.

Yamal has earned himself a starting place, clearly surpassing players like Raphinha and Ferran Torres who cost the club good millions. He is a regular starter at the moment and will be in the future.

Selling Lamine Yamal for €200 million would be an immediate solution to Barcelona’s economic problems. The club would be able to sign players on the 1:1 rule again.

However, Barça will not sell because they do not want a short-term solution and, moreover, the sale of the crown jewel would be very difficult to explain to the fans.
