In a month’s time, the January transfer window will be underway and there is already a lot of anticipation building up among Barcelona fans regarding the moves that the club might make.

As things stand, Barcelona are planning on bringing in Vitor Roque in January by taking advantage of the space created by Gavi’s absence due to his ACL injury.

The decision has already been made and the Catalans have informed La Liga about the same and are waiting for a final validation from them.

No other major changes

Now, SPORT is reporting that Barcelona do not plan on making any other changes to the squad in January apart from the incorporation and registration of Vitor Roque.

There had been talk of Barça making use of the space from Gavi’s absence to bring in a new midfielder, in particular to strengthen the pivot position.

But the Blaugrana believe that finding a quality pivot midfielder and signing him on a loan deal in January would be like a utopia and do not expect that to happen.

The option remains as long as a ‘bargain’ might become available and can improve the level of the squad, but it is not seen as a concrete possibility.

No sales expected

At the same time, Barcelona will not be sanctioning any player exits in January to generate any sort of revenue.

No one has been sounded out, no one has been approached, and no one has been informed, while no players have asked to leave either.

The staff’s motto is clear: all the players in the squad count and all of them will be important at one point or another during the season.

Xavi is aware, even more so after qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, that the season is very long and full of games. There will be injuries and suspensions and he needs all his ‘soldiers’ to be ready.
