According to a report from Mari Carmen Torres of MARCA, the future of Barcelona loanee Ez Abde for next season is not defined at this moment and it will depend on three factors.

Abde, who signed for Barça in 2021, enjoyed a decent debut season at the first-team and the subsidiary level. But with little to no space in the senior squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, he was loaned out to CA Osasuna, where he has thrived.

Abde has scored five goals for the Pamplona-based outfit, including a match-winning brace against Elche earlier this weekend.

Following that, there had been reports that the Moroccan international will remain a part of the Barcelona setup for next season.

However, according to the report from MARCA, there is nothing certain about Abde’s future at Barcelona at this point and it will depend on three factors.

For starters, Abde staying or leaving could hinge on the shape of the Barcelona squad for the next season.

There has been a lot of talk about revamping the attack, with the likes of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres being linked with an exit. Players like Marcus Thuram and Yannick Carrasco have been touted as targets. So, a lot will depend on who leaves and who arrives.

Secondly, Abde’s future will also be dependent on the kind of offers, if any, he receives in the summer. It is no secret that the Blaugrana are in need of player sales to balance their books and should a significant offer arrive for the Moroccan, a sale could be on the cards.

Finally, Abde’s performances in the preseason with the first team will also play a role in defining his future. The Catalans will be travelling to the USA for their preseason tour where they could play 3-4 matches and the winger will have to make the most of his opportunities.

Earlier today in his press conference, Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez also spoke highly of Abde, saying: “Abde is making the most of his loan spell, he is making a difference, they are very happy in Pamplona, he is being professional and playing very well. Barça have to ensure that he is at the level he was yesterday, that he is at every game.

“When he comes back we will look at him, we will evaluate him and decide what to do with him, he could be a very important player in the future.”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 21-year-old, who is certainly making the most of his time on loan at Osasuna.
