Lately, Barcelona’s jewel Pedri has been the centre of attention, both when it comes to the fans and the media. And despite being so young, it seems that he doesn’t mind facing the press and talking to them about various different topics.

His latest interview was with Cadena SER, specifically on their program El Larguero (via Mundo Deportivo), where he talked about his teammates, how he came to Barcelona and generally about the club.

Firstly, he mentioned some of the most important values you have to have both as a footballer and as a human being. For him, his father and brother are the ones to keep reminding him of that.

“You have to be humble as a footballer. If you aren’t humble in football, you will fail. My father and brother always advise me about this matter.”

When it comes to his preferred position on the pitch, it was always in midfield but he can also play on the wings, it doesn’t bother him all that much.

“Since I was little I have always felt more comfortable as a midfielder but in both positions I can contribute to the team.”

Of course, he had to talk about Lionel Messi a bit. The Argentine is incredible and sometimes it feels like he’s a character from an animated show – he just does the impossible and makes it look easy.

“What surprises me most about Messi are the things he does in training. He is like Captain Tsubasa but in real life. You don’t get used to watching him play, Leo does what he wants when he wants. Playing with Messi is a prize life has given me.”

He also discussed some of his other teammates like Ansu Fati and the two seem to get along pretty well. Unfortunately, Fati himself had to undergo surgery recently because of a very serious injury.

“I also get along with Ansu very well. He had a very serious injury. He has a lot of goals already and a lot of quality one against one… He has a bright future and has everything.”

At the same time, he has a good relationship with Francisco Trincão as well…

“I have a good relationship with Trincão because we arrived at the same time.”

Finally, Pedri addressed Antoine Griezmann too, praising the Frenchman and saying that he’s been unlucky as of late. However, all of that should change soon since he’s working hard.

“Griezmann is working very hard. He is a bit unlucky right now, but he gives the team a lot.”

I’ve been a Barcelona fan for more than half of my life. What started as blind love is slowly turning into professional writing. Now, I get to write about Barca, analyse them, and voice my opinions on them across platforms. I’m happy to be a part of this big project.
