Barcelona intensifying interest in Turkish prodigy who will cost at least €20 million

Spanish journalists Toni Juanmarti and Matteo Moretto have offered an update on Barcelona’s pursuit of Arda Guler.
The young Fenerbahce attacker is the latest talent to come out of the Turkish Super Lig and it is only a matter of time before he joins a bigger team. Barça, to that end, are among the clubs interested in his services.
As per the report, the Catalans are intensifying their pursuit of Guler, who appears prepared to leave Fenerbahce. However, the biggest obstacle for the club will be financing the move.
Fenerbahce are aware of the player’s potential, as Guler has racked up seven goals and eight assists in 39 competitive matches. An attacking midfielder by trade, the youngster has impressed onlookers with his technical brilliance and tactical versatility.
Although Fenerbahce spent only €7,000 to attain Guler’s services, they are looking for at least €20 million for the player. In normal circumstances, it is quite an attainable fee for Barcelona, but in light of their ongoing economic issues, financing such a deal could be tricky.
On top of that, the Catalans are facing stiff competition from Premier League clubs. The Spanish club have made moves to sign Arda Guler, but so have their English counterparts, who can easily compete with Barça financially.
However, with Barcelona forecasting a series of departures in order to generate fresh revenue, it appears the club, led by president Joan Laporta, are more than willing to fight for a move for the Turkish sensation in the coming summer.
As we approach the final phase of the campaign, we may soon receive a more definite update on Guler’s future, as the youngster looks to take the next big step in his career.
