Barcelona forward confident of World Cup participation, will join Saudi Arabian team
Martin Braithwaite’s time at Barcelona is over. While he initially refused to accept it, it seems he has finally come to terms with it and is ready to move on to the next chapter in his career.
Speaking on Gerard Romero’s live stream, Ferran Martinez has said Braithwaite is hoping to terminate his contract with the club in the coming days to accept a financially lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
The Dane knows that his place in the Denmark National Team is not under threat as long he continues to get regular minutes under his belt. As such, it seems he has opted to ‘secure the bag’ instead of finding competitive minutes within La Liga.
Last season, Braithwaite played just four games in the league, scoring two goals and assisting one. Those goal contributions, however, came in just the first game of the season.
By the third gameweek, he had picked up a four-month-long injury, only to see Ronald Koeman replaced by Xavi at the helm. The Spaniard evidently did not favour Braithwaite in his team, giving him a grand total of 26 minutes for the next half of the season.
