It is no secret that Barcelona are in the market for a new right-back this summer. The January exit of Hector Bellerin, coupled with the struggles of Sergino Dest during his loan spell at AC Milan has accentuated the need for a new face in the department.

Barça have been linked with a host of players in the market, one of which is Benjamin Pavard. The Bayern Munich star has fallen out of favour in Bavaria and everything indicates the club would offload him at the end of the season, on a cut-price deal.

Since Pavard’s contract at Bayern expires in 2024, the Frenchman could be quite affordable for Barcelona. However, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans may face stiff competition from AC Milan in the race to sign the right-back.

It appears Pavard was in attendance during AC Milan’s recent game against Lecce. He was at San Siro along with his Bayern teammate Lucas Hernandez, whose brother, Theo, plays for the Rossoneri.

Pavard’s visit did not go unnoticed by the media, including the fact that the defender went inside the Milan dressing room after the game.

Everything indicates the Bayern Munich star is looking for a new challenge elsewhere and Serie A, to that end, could be a possible destination. The reigning Italian champions will be looking for a new right-back in the coming summer, following the struggles of Dest.

The American international’s services will not be retained by Milan, so the addition of someone like Pavard could make sense, as far as the Rossoneri are concerned.

Barcelona, therefore, must press ahead and move swiftly if they are to sign Pavard in the coming summer, especially considering the fact that there are no viable alternatives around.
