According to TV3 reports, the Barcelona dressing room morale is at an all time low. The Champions League Round of 16 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint Germain has been a major factor for the players’ being in disarray.

The report highlights that the first team dressing room has taken the loss in a very negative way. Some of the players who were slowly gaining traction at the club, presumably the youngsters, seem to have lost their confidence.

Barcelona’s hopes of progression to the Champions League quarterfinals have suffered an almost irreparable setback. PSG ran riot at the Camp Nou, with a red-hot Kylian Mbappe scoring a hattrick en-route to a 4-1 drubbing of the Catalans. The French outfit managed to secure their first win over the Blaugrana as visitors.

Some of the more experienced players in the squad however, believe that the team has lacked qualities to be among Europe’s elite for over 6 years. The Barcelona XI looked to be all over the place and despite taking the lead, they dropped off rapidly after PSG’s instant equaliser.

The team looked flustered and powerless and even ended up creating tension among themselves. A video of Gerard Pique and Antoine Griezmann getting into a heated verbal exchange also went viral, which summed up Barcelona’s lack of unity on the night.

The lack of morale however, doesn’t seem to be a recent issue. Over the past few years, the consistent humiliations in the Champions League have made the squad look very frail. The slightest bit of adversity seems to knock everyone off balance. Highly concerning signs.
