Barcelona dressing room disappointed with out-of-favour forward’s behaviour – Romero

While the topic of Memphis Depay’s Barcelona future is one point of debate, a report from Gerard Romero has come to light where the journalist has claimed that the Dutchman no longer shares a good relationship with almost any Barcelona player.

Depay, 28, last played for Barcelona in their Copa del Rey outing against Intercity earlier this month. And now that his exit rumours are gathering steam, the former PSV and Manchester United forward is more or less frozen out by Xavi.

It is understood that the manager has given the forward the green light to leave the club, as long as a replacement is signed. For all intents and purposes, Depay has his mind set on a move to fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

There was reported interest from Inter, but the forward only wants to move to the team from the capital city.

As the topic of Depay’s future continues to be a matter of great discussion, Romero is reporting that the Barcelona management is of the idea that the forward has not adapted well to the dressing room.

In fact, several members of the dressing room are disappointed with the forward because of what he did before the 2022 FIFA World Cup with regard to his injury. And this is particularly why he does not have a good relationship with almost any player.

The context of the aforementioned dates back to late September 2022 when he picked up an unfortunate thigh injury. Rumours spread around, claiming that the forward was deliberately slowing down his recovery to stay fit for the world event.

As it turns out, the 28-year-old did play in each of Netherlands’ five games during the tournament, scoring a solitary goal.

The update from Romero claims that Depay’s behaviour has left the Barcelona dressing room disappointed and ahead of a potential exit, he has practically erased himself from the team.

But with a transfer to Atletico Madrid appearing complicated due to a standoff in negotiations between the two clubs, it remains to be seen how this situation involving the Dutchman evolves.
