With the summer transfer window less than a couple of months away, Barcelona have started their preparations for it as they begin to compile reports on potential targets.

A new pivot midfielder and a left-winger are seen as top priorities for the Catalans, but they also remain open to signing an attacking midfielder while an ‘experienced’ left-back is also on the agenda.

Given the financial situation, it promises to be a tricky affair for Barça and as such sporting director Deco has a huge task on his hands.

Deco meets agent Joshua Barnett

As part of the preparations for the summer, Barcelona director Deco met with a well-known football agent in Joshua Barnett earlier today.

This update comes from Jijantes FC, who reported that a meeting took place between the former Portuguese midfielder and Barnett today in the Catalan capital.

Barnett is one of the partners of the CAA Stellar Agency, who represent several top players like Jack Grealish, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ibrahima Konate, among others.

Another client of Barnett happens to be Villarreal midfielder Alex Baena, who has a lot of admirers at Barcelona.

Baena dreams of Barcelona

Less than a couple of weeks ago, Alex Baena discussed the rumours of interest from Barcelona and stated that it would be a dream for him to play for the Catalans.

“Who wouldn’t like to play for Barça? Playing for Barça would be one of my biggest dreams as a footballer, it is the best team in the world,” he said.

However, the Spaniard did insist that he was very happy at Villarreal, which is the club of his life.

The versatile midfielder, who can also play on the left flank, admitted that any club wanting to sign him would have to shell out his €60 million release clause.

“I think whoever loves me will have to pay them,” he said.

Opening the door to Barça, he added: “Nothing has come to me, we are focused on finishing the season, on playing the Euro Cup with the national team if possible, then we will see and we will talk, but who wouldn’t like to play for Barça.”
