Despite their 3-1 victory over Celta Vigo last time out, Barcelona suffered a massive blow when a collision of heads between two of their youngster Ronald Araujo and Gavi saw the former fall on the floor unconscious and later taken to the hospital.

Much was feared regarding Araujo’s injury as the defender had taken a nasty collision. He was also unconscious for a while before eventually being admitted to the hospital.

However, soon after the game, Barcelona revealed there was nothing serious about Araujo’s head injury and the defender had only sustained a concussion. He was even discharged from the hospital the following day.

Diarios AS had published a report in midweek, claiming Araujo might even be in contention to feature in Barça’s upcoming game against Getafe.

Those reports appear to have been confirmed as Barcelona’s training video prior to the Getafe encounter shows Ronald Araujo has indeed returned to the pitch and is training with his Barcelona teammates.

The Uruguayan’s return could serve as a major boost for Xavi Hernandez, who is currently missing out on defensive lynchpin Gerard Pique due to an adductor injury.

Although Araujo is unlikely to be risked in the starting eleven against Getafe, he could still start on the bench and potentially become an option in the second half, especially if the opposition pile on the pressure.

As far as the starting eleven is concerned, the onus will likely be on Clement Lenglet to feature alongside Eric Garcia at the heart of the four-man backline.

The Frenchman has played fallen out of favour under Xavi this season, but it will be an exciting opportunity for him to impress the onlookers before he eventually leaves Camp Nou at the end of the season.
