Barcelona defender allays injury fears after substitution against Sevilla: “It’s nothing”

Barcelona racked up another impressive victory in La Liga on Saturday as they defeated Sevilla 0-3 away from home at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
The result extended the Catalans’ unbeaten run in the new season to four matches as they moved to second place, just two points behind leaders Real Madrid, who have won four in four in the new campaign.
Goals from Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Eric Garcia helped Barça cruise to a resounding win, while the likes of Gavi and Jules Kounde also enjoyed excellent outings in Andalusia.
However, there was a concern for the Blaugrana as Garcia had to be taken off ten minutes into the second half with an injury, just five minutes after he had scored the third goal of the game.
The 21-year-old has made a brilliant start to the new season after a difficult debut campaign in La Liga last time out. So, naturally, there were concerns when he had to be subbed off against Sevilla on Saturday night.
However, speaking after the game, the former Manchester City centre-back has allayed any fears over his situation, insisting that he is feeling ‘fine’.
As quoted by SPORT, Garcia said: “I’m fine, I already had some discomfort, but it’s nothing.”
So, in all likelihood, the Spanish international will be available for Barcelona’s upcoming game against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League in the coming week.
Having helped Barcelona keep a third clean sheet in four games, Garcia remarked: “For a defender, it is especially gratifying not to concede a goal. Everything has been thanks to the collective work shown.”
Talking about scoring his first professional goal, Garcia said: “In the locker room they used to make jokes about the goals, but that’s the least of it, the important thing was the victory.”
Xavi has been praising for Garcia for the start he has made this season. And having him fit and fine will come as a relief after the minor injury scare on Saturday.
