Barcelona could face a penalty of up to €3,006 for incident against Atletico Madrid

Barcelona broke into the top four of the La Liga standings when they beat Atletico Madrid 4-2 at Camp Nou on Sunday afternoon. It was a huge result for the Blaugrana, who continued their upward progression under Xavi Hernandez.
The game, which was Barcelona’s first at home in 2022, also saw fans return to near full capacity at Camp Nou. And while they rejoiced in the victory on the day, there was one incident that might end up with the Catalans getting hit with a fine.
Late in the contest, a supporter made his way onto the pitch, leading to the game being briefly halted. While he was escorted without any further incident, referee Gil Manzano included the episode in his report, as per Mundo Deportivo.
“Invasion of the field: In the 87th minute the game had to be stopped due to the invasion of a spectator. He was taken off the field of play by security members and resumed without any further incident.”
Following the report, the Competition Committee of the Spanish Federation could now end up slapping Barcelona with a fine. The Blaugrana could be charged in accordance with Article 86 of the Disciplinary Code, which could lead to a fine ranging between €602 and €3006.
The Committee might also charge Barça under Article 15.1 of the Disciplinary Code, which reads:
“When during a game the order is altered, the physical integrity of the referees, players, technicians or people is endangered, material damage or injury is caused, the field of play is invaded (…) the organizing club will incur liability unless it proves the diligent fulfilment of its obligations and the adoption of the prevention measures required by sports legislation.
“The organizer of the meeting will also be responsible when these events occur as a result of a malfunction of the security services for reasons attributable to the club.”
The referee has clarified in his report that there was no damage or further incident. Irrespective of that, the Blaugrana could be hit with a small fine.
