Mason Greenwood is one of the footballers facing an uncertain summer ahead.

Even after an excellent loan spell at Getafe, the forward is not entirely sure where he will play next, particularly due to his controversial past.

As a result, Man United are constantly looking for suitors for Greenwood ahead of the coming summer.

Barcelona cool interest in Greenwood

A recent report from ESPN has offered an update on the future of Greenwood. The report outlines the potential options for the Englishman.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have been mentioned as potential suitors for Greenwood, who has racked up eight goals and five assists for Getafe this season.

However, the report does clarify that Barcelona’s interest in the Englishman has waned. It appears the Catalans are not entirely sure of signing the forward, knowing it might draw a lot of backlash.

Man United stay not ruled out

While Atletico still remain an option, it must be noted that Manchester United have not entirely ruled out the prospect of having Greenwood as part of the team next season.

The Red Devils ideally want to get rid of the player on a permanent deal. However, they may not find any lucrative offers due to the player’s controversial past.

Keeping that in mind, Man United might look to continue with Greenwood next season. The club are aware of the issues that must be addressed should they bring back the Englishman this summer.

But in the event they do not find an offer, Greenwood’s return to Old Trafford still remains a possibility.
