Junior Firpo arrived to be a quality replacement for Jordi Alba but he ended up being one of the players with the fewest minutes on the team. Without much confidence in him, Barça wants to sell him before his market price gets devaluated. Fortunately for the Catalan club, according to Gerard Romero, Firpo has an offer to move to a La Liga team. The name of the team seems to be unspecified yet.
The 24-year-old finds himself at a dead end within the Blaugrana club. When he has minutes, they have been for specific cases, such as moments in which Alba is injured or rested. In the beginning, Ronald Koeman has even chosen to play with Sergiño Dest on the left rather than give Firpo a chance.
Junior arrived in Barcelona in the 2019/20 season with no continuity with his minutes and this season the situation has not changed. The player has only played three games, of which one as a starter and they have been out of necessity rather than some tactical aspect.
Perhaps it is a good idea to wait for the new board to arrive and for them to analyze the Firpo case. If Firpo gets sold, the Catalan club will be left with only one left-back player, which could cause problems.
Barcelona is afraid that the 18 million euros that were invested in the player will not pay off, and considering the current financial crisis, the club would not hesitate to sell Firpo for a fair price.
