There are still two weeks left before the summer transfer window of 2022 comes to an end and Barcelona are planning some major moves before the trade window slams shut.

The Blaugrana have already made some eye-catching additions, none more than the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. However, they are still planning to bring in another marquee player in the form of Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva.

The 28-year-old, for his part, appears keen on joining the Blaugrana and on Saturday, appeared to be saying goodbye to the City fans following their Premier League win against AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

However, given Barcelona’s financial situation, funding a move for the Portuguese international could prove tricky. Indeed, the Catalans were hoping to offload Frenkie de Jong and use the funds from his sale to bankroll Silva’s transfer.

But, the Netherlands international is not willing to leave Camp Nou, which could force Barça into considering alternatives. One such option that the Catalan giants are considering, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, is the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 33-year-old Gabonese hitman is attracting serious interest from Premier League giants Chelsea, who are desperate to add a new No. 9 to their roster. Thomas Tuchel is keen on a reunion with Aubameyang, having worked with him in the past at Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona boss Xavi sees the ex-Arsenal captain as an important part of his plans and wants to keep him at the club. However, that stance could alter as they look for ways to finance a move to bring Silva to Camp Nou.

Barcelona would reportedly demand a sum of around €25 million for Aubameyang, which would help them to some extent in their bid for the Manchester City superstar.

Chelsea would be willing to hand Aubameyang a lucrative contract and a starting role in the side, something that is not on the table at Barça following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. Eugenio Botas, an intermediary in the operation, has held talks with the Blaugrana over the past few weeks.

Barcelona plan to use the potential €25 million that they might receive from Aubameyang’s sale and the proceeds from Sergino Dest’s possible exit to fund a move for Silva. With not much time left, the Catalans must pick up pace if they want to see this one through.
