Per a report by SPORT, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo wants to hurry his recovery from injury in order to feature against PSG next week. The Spanish giants host the Parisiens in a mouthwatering Round of 16 Champions League tie.

Araujo picked up an ankle sprain in Barcelona’s win against Real Betis in La Liga at the weekend. After dispossessing Nabil Fekir, the Uruguayan got his boot stuck in the turf and twisted his left ankle badly. He hobbled off the pitch just 11 minutes into the match. The injury was a definite setback due to the kind of form he was in.

The 21-year-old consequently missed Barcelona’s trip to Seville in yesterday’s Copa del Rey semi-final. His absence was certainly felt as the Catalans fell to a 2-0 defeat in the first leg. However, his injury does not seem all too serious. Araujo seems determined to make the difference against PSG.

The Barça B youngster has been in impeccable form and the defense has looked impeccable whenever he has played. With Gerard Pique still out injured, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti struggling for form, Araujo has been a key presence at the back. It reflects in terms of results as well, given that the Blaugrana haven’t lost a game all season when he has started in the league.

The report highlights that Araujo’s conditions will be assessed before the PSG clash and a last-minute decision will be made about his availability. Barcelona will be hoping that he is fully fit, but if there are doubts it would be best to avoid any risk of aggravation.
