Barcelona 3-3 Inter Milan: Player Ratings

Xavi went with arguably his best starting lineup today as more than 96,000 people at the Camp Nou played hosts to Inter Milan. Barcelona started arguably their best starting lineup for the game, which could potentially decide their season.
Raphinha was back to the right-wing, and evidently a lot more lively, while Ousmane Dembele shifted to the left. This formula worked, in a way, as the former created the goal for the latter in the first half.
That said, Barcelona could have and probably should have scored at least another one before the end of the first 45, but did not.
The second half brought a ton of goals with it, with Inter equalising through Barella before Lautaro Martinez put them ahead.
Lewandowski pulled one back for the hosts, but Simone Inzaghi’s men scored on the counter. The night did not end in defeat for the Catalans, though, as Lewa scored a 92nd minute equaliser.
At 3-3, it pretty much puts an end to Barcelona’s Champions League dream, but it sure was an entertaining game for the neutral.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 7.5
Made a few monumental saves to keep Barcelona in the game – including a sensational 1v1 stop in the 95th minute. Could not do anything about any of Inter’s goal.
Sergi Roberto: 7
Was caught out defensively a couple of times, but inverted incredibly well in possession. His diagonal run through the centre also opened up space for Busquets and Pedri. Got the assist for the goal with a simple yet flawless pass.
Eric Garcia: 8
Was another excellent shift from Garcia, who has been commanding the defence like an absolute pro. Lost Lautaro Martinez for the second goal, though, which was detrimental. Got an absolute peach of an assist for Lewandowski’s second, though.
Gerard Pique: 3
Unbeatable in the air, Pique did well to keep Martinez in check in the first half, but had a horror show of a second 45. Had a huge brainfart that allowed Nicolo Barella through on goal. Almost scored an own goal, and then was bullied by Denzel Dumfries as Inter nearly scored a third.
Marcos Alonso: 4
Probably the only consistently underwhelming performer from the game, Alonso was a bit too slow for Inter’s attacks. He delayed several passes, and could not track Denzel Dumfries to save his life.
Pedri: 7.5
Missed a brilliant chance to double Barça’s lead, but other than that, his forward runs opened up a ton of avenues for Raphinha and Lewandowski. Made a few magical runs to penetrate the final third, but was eventually unsuccessful.
Sergio Busquets: 6
An absolute vintage showing from the captain in the first half, who was impossible to mark. A second half to forget, though, as his passes failed to find their destinations. Carelessly lost the ball that led to the second goal.
Gavi: 7.5
Gavi covered Alonso’s track defensively, and Dembele’s offensively with his mobility. Got the better of Nicolo Barella often. A proper all-round shift from the youngster.
Raphinha: 7.5
You can see Raphinha brings with himself a completely different set of ideas, but has been failing to execute them as well. Despite that, he created four shots, tested Onana a couple of times, and essentially created the goal out of nothing with his work-rate. Speaking of his
Robert Lewandowski: 8.5
Was man-marked out of the box by Milan Skriniar, and had to resort to dropping deep and in wide pockets to create space for himself. Got a well-deserved goal to pull the Catalans back into the game, before scoring a stunning header in injury time to equalise for the second time.
Ousmane Dembele: 7.5
Much like Raphinha, Dembele failed to execute most of his moves. Tested Onana a couple of times before eventually finding the back of the net to score the opener.
SUBSTITUTES:
Ansu Fati: 6
Could have proven to be the winner tonight but overthought a bunch of his moves.
Frenkie de Jong: 7.5
Gave Barcelona the energy they were looking for in midfield with driving runs into the final third.
Alejandro Balde: 6
Should have started the game, which pretty much sums up his game.
Franck Kessie: 6.5
Created a lovely chance for Lewandowski, and slotted in well to cover at right-back.
Ferran Torres: N/A
Came on too late to impact the game.
