Joao Felix is one of many Barcelona players facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, with his loan deal expiring at the end of the season.

Earlier in the campaign, Barcelona were determined to ensure the continuity of both Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo.

But as the club brace themselves for a potential clearout in the summer, Barça are unlikely to make any effort to extend the loan spell of Felix, at the very least.

Atletico aware of Barcelona’s plans

According to Cadena SER (h/t Diario SPORT), even Atletico Madrid are aware of Barcelona’s lack of interest in Felix and the fact that the club will not make any effort to retain his services.

It must be remembered that Xavi did not support the signing of Felix in the first place. And during the course of the campaign, the tension between the player and the coaching staff has only increased.

Felix’s inconsistent form has not helped his cause either. In 27 league matches, the Portuguese international has scored only seven goals, often failing to conjure up two back-to-back performances in any given week.

What’s next for Felix?

With Barcelona unlikely to retain the services of Felix, the attacker is all set for an uncertain summer ahead.

Atletico Madrid, for their part, have no plans with Felix either, with Diego Simeone not willing to have any relation with the player.

Atletico are hoping that Felix will have a good European Championship, which could skyrocket his valuation so that it is easier for the club to find suitors.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have no scope for signing Felix on a permanent deal. The Catalans can only consider another loan deal, but even that is doubtful now, with Xavi and Joan Laporta looking for a complete squad makeover.
