Days after Nico Gonzalez confirmed he is moving to Valencia on loan in search of regular first-team football, another Barcelona player in Ez Abde is following the trail to the fellow La Liga club.

As reported by SPORT, Abde will first renew his current deal with Barcelona, which runs until 2024, for two more years and if not for any last-minute hiccups, he will move to Valencia once the formalities for Nico are completed.

It is interesting to note that Abde, 20, had loan offers from up to five first-division teams, but Barcelona opted to leave the decision of choosing the destination in the player’s own hands. And based on the sporting project, the Moroccan winger selected Gennaro Gattuso’s Valencia.

It is said that Abde had a detailed conversation with Xavi regarding the move where it was made clear that given the strength of the current roster, it will be difficult for him to get minutes.

Furthermore, both parties agreed to the fact that there is no point in sending Abde back to the subsidiary as it would not only hamper his progress but will also decrease his market valuation.

The only condition that Barcelona put forward, as it was with Nico, was that he selects a La Liga project rather than going abroad to make himself more familiar with the league.

Meanwhile, before finalizing his temporary departure, the player will pen a new deal that will last until 2026 in order to strengthen his relationship with Barcelona. This basically means Valencia will not have an option to make his stay permanent beyond the 2022/23 season.

Once everything is formalized, Abde will become the third Barcelona youngster to go out on loan for regular minutes following Nico and Alex Collado, who is headed to Elche.
